About

Therapy Is For Everyone

You don’t always need a breakthrough moment. More often, it’s the small shifts that matter—the clarity that comes from putting feelings into words, the relief of being understood, even if it’s just by yourself. Growth isn’t loud. It’s subtle, layered, and sometimes invisible in the moment. But it’s happening, The best way to grow is to have someone who wants you to be at your best.

The Therapist

Ama Reshamvala

Hi!
I’m Ama.
Having done my Master’s in Clinical psychology and a diploma in Counselling Psychology, I have been practising in this field since 2022. I have always been fascinated by the mind and its workings, because I read too many books as a child. I am passionate about understanding people and helping people understand themselves better. I am driven by the need to make mental health care a topic we approach with more openness and acceptance. I believe that each person deserves a space where they can speak their minds freely and work to achieve better mental health. We all need help at some point or another. It brings me joy to be able to offer a safe space to be heard and held.
If you are here seeking solace, support, or simply a place to vent, you are welcome here. I would love to be a part of your journey.

Education, Qualifications & Experience

Like every arts student, I almost took science and biology. But psychology pulled me to itself and here I have stayed. I nurtured my desire to study psychology at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai throughout junior college. Went on to do a BA in Psychology, followed by a MA in Clinical Psychology from SNDT Women’s University, Churchgate. I interned at the psychiatric ward of Sion Hospital, Mumbai during this course and was lucky to gain exposure to a wide range of clinical disorders and hospital workings. I was delighted to end the course with two gold medals!
I went on to pursue a Post graduate diploma in counselling psychology from the Xavier Institute of Counselling Psychology. During this course, I started working as a therapist in private practice and I haven’t looked back since.

Then onwards, I have kept myself in touch with newer concepts and therapies through the following workshops and trainings –
Bibliotherapy, Literature and Mental Health.
Workshop Series on Affirmative Competencies and Integrating Diversity In Therapy (14 hours) – Karma Care
Attachment Repatterning and Integral Somatic Embodiment (12 hours, skill based training) – Prafulta, Andheri (Mumbai)
Pelvic Floor and Trauma – Rhea Gandhi Psychotherapy
I am also in supervision and my personal therapy.

Having qualified the NET examination, I have also taught psychology over the last few years. My alma mater, St. Xavier’s College, offered me the chance to be to young minds what my teachers had been to me and I jumped at the chance to teach psychology at the junior college level. I have also had the opportunity to teach at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences a few times. I have also conducted workshops with students of St. Xavier’s College and Elphinstone College.

When not working, you will find me reading, knitting, drawing, playing with my cats, or happily napping.
